Should Rush Limbaugh moderate the GOP presidential debates? The Republican National Committee is reportedly considering employing the popular shock jock By Harold Maass | 1:52pm EST

The Republican National Committee is looking to shake up the party's next round of presidential debates.

In addition to threatening to deny CNN and NBC the chance to host any of the GOP's 2016 primary debates, the RNC is considering scrapping the old model in which journalists from middle-of-the-road networks act as moderators, reports Paul Bedard at The Washington Examiner.

GOP insiders tell Secrets that they are considering other choices, even a heavyweight panel of radio bigs Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.

The benefits of this are readily apparent. These three radio hosts command large audiences, far larger than a typical presidential-primary debate would attract. Furthermore, they would attract the people that the GOP most needs to energize for a national election — grassroots conservatives and highly-engaged voters. Partnering with these three would vastly improve the perception of the RNC, both for partnering with favorite New Media voices and for continued defiance to the mainstream media. [Hot Air]

The whole thing is a charade. Might as well make it official.

Look - the primary/caucus process is a family affair. We could certainly have K.O., Big Eddie, and Rachel host our debates. I'd personally prefer it.

I think it would be a brilliant idea on their part!

Maybe we will indeed see a Clinton Vs Palin race.

How delicious would that be?! The party that is quickly becoming completely irrelevant and a big joke hires the most irrelevant comedian to moderate their debates. Brilliant!

He is, after all, the leader of their party, and their foundational "philosopher."

It can only be good for us to let all the sane voters, including independents and moderate Rockefeller Republicans, learn what the Republican party really stands for, learn whom it truly reveres and obeys.

If Rush were even more prominently displayed, we wouldn't need the Akins of the party. Rush could stoke sufficient revulsion all by himself!

Just think about what Rush would be talking about on his show for 2 months after the debate.

Nothing I can think of would be more helpful the the 2016 (D) candidate than involving Rush in a nationally televised debate.
