When he was young, he was the best.
Many musicians who came after him cite him as one of their main influences. People who only remember the fat Elvis in white playing Vegas missed the greatest work from him.
I also remember the young Elvis who reported for his Army induction and was stationed in Germany. His hair cut was national news. Those who served with him had no complaints. He was one of them.

The last year my Dad was alive we were watching one if E's movies and listening to Presley singing over the opening credits, and Dad remarked how good it was to hear his voice again.
When Elvis died, I remember driving aimlessly for hours around Austin, searching for something.
