3) I had no financial problems. I sold my house which was completely paid for in 1998. The same year I bought $30,000 in 1/10 ounce gold coins and pre 1965 silver coins. Gold was $300/ounce when I bought it and silver was $4/ounce. Gold went up to $1,700 and Silver to $44 making my stash worth over $200,000.

The coordinates lead to a forest south of Kansas City.

(29,674 posts)They don't think it's money that's been buried there. They have someone out there right now, looking around, and he said the arboretum is packed full of treasure seekers right now.
Big speculation in this area is that the arboretum, where the coordinates lead, held some significance but wasn't a spot for buried treasure. A few have said that there had been discussion of cremation so maybe that's where he wanted to be interred. If that's the case I can't blame him. The arboretum is beautiful.

(1,941 posts)I'd be not half-surprised if the treasure chest is actually a big IED.

(29,674 posts)so they were jumping the fence, which got the Overland Park police involved.
This is going to get messy.

(34,105 posts)if you are interested in that sort of thing.
The fact that they had to get the cops out to protect the arboretum because nobody wanted to pay the $5.00 to get in is possibly stranger than the deed of leaving the money there IMO.
The guy went out on his own terms. Good for him. Not for most of us but it was right for him.

Said fortune consists of empty beer bottles, but it's the thought that counts.
