about cantor + Palestine/Israel peace talks:
Unbelievable.
Wednesday, as Israeli and Palestinian negotiators met for final status peace talks in Jerusalem, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor gave a press conference all but dismissing their efforts.
The Palestinians came to the table despite a staggering surge in settlement construction. Yet Cantor arrogantly proclaimed that peace would never come without a "cultural mind-shift" among Palestinians and throughout the Arab world.
A mind-shift is surely needed, most of all by Eric Cantor and others who seem to be itching to sabotage the best opportunity we've had for years to achieve Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Peace requires a mind-shift from cynicism to hope, from casting blame to pursuing solutions. And most of all, peace requires a mind-shift that stops viewing a two-state solution as some kind of favor to the Palestinians and instead sees it for what it is: a necessity for Israels survival as a democratic, Jewish homeland.

Frankly, were not likely to change Eric Cantor's mind. But we can make sure that this time around, his voice and those of his allies arent the ones guiding the debate.
We can ensure that for every cynic who tells the sides, "dont even bother," theres a chorus of voices saying why peace can, and must prevail.
But we cant do it without your help. Join J Street as a Contributing Member today and stand with the great constituency for peace.

Don't mean to promote J-Street necessarily, but 'interesting' info here, imo. E
