For the patriots, we would agree that there are a lot of good things about America. But if we want to keep those good things and to make our country better, what would you fix?
Since we cannot be a true democracy if citizens are not permitted to vote, that would seem like a good starting place to me? True freedom requires participation. The right to vote should not be hindered.
In our representative democracy, we elect Congressmen and Senators to represent our interests. The President is elected to execute those laws passed by our elected representatives. When that doesn't happen, it needs to be fixed.
When we send our troops to every far corner of the world to protect our empire and corporate interests, that is not for the benefit of most Americans. When we spend a trillion dollars on our military every two years, that needs to be fixed.
When we have the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA all doing the same job, something needs to be fixed. When they duplicate and operate in secrecy and out of the bounds of any oversight, something is wrong.
When the Supreme Court rules that corporations are people and that money is free speech, something is very wrong. When elections are decided by who has the most money, our system is broken. It needs to be fixed.
When the average working person is asked to pay more in taxes than millionaires and corporations, something is amiss. We need to reform the tax system in this country.
When our elected officials refuse to address any of these major problems, something needs to be fixed. Where should we start?

Is it about time that we broke the news to the Republicans of Limbaugh and FOX News?
Because they will be responsible. It is not just about politics. It is about our lives.
If we cannot persuade them to vote for America, then I do not know where we are headed?

(2,424 posts)A broad spectrum of problems ranging from money to journalism, from voting rights to Gerrymandering, from influence peddling to 30 second sound bites.
The entire election system is broken, bias, or corrupt.
Nothing gets fixed until representatives are truly representative.
