I havent been to it in a few years, but I had to go to THIS one....the first one where Marijuana is legal!
there was talks of the police handing out Doritos with the marijuana laws on it lol I really wanted to see that but I think they must have run out on friday....I heard one girl behind me say "where the cops at? I got the munchies!" lol
thousand and thousands of people! no parking, we probably walked 5 miles just to get to the line to get in....which wound up and down two streets - about a mile long! there was a group of protesters yelling at us thru a megaphone that we were sinners. jesus was gonna get us etc....then someone hollered "go back to Westboro ya freaks! this is Seattle! The marijuana capital of the world! wooo!" lol
I saw girls butts and painted up boobies, I saw a giant bag of weed and a giant Joint walking around passing out flyers for a medicinal delivery place....I saw the most amazing glass artwork! I saw happy people, high people, singing people....some guy had MASSIVE joint he was passing around - he got told it was huge enough to be considered distributing so they made him put it away....
I heard the attorney who wrote the initiative to make it legal speak, she had her 6 yo son there, she said hes been to every one since he was born Another speaker spoke of the next fight....the building of the industry...making sure those employees have heathcare and other benefits....another spoke of getting marijuana off the fed Sched 1 list.......most dangerous substance in the world? please....
it was a great time - a worthy victory party but still keeping focus on what still needs to be done...
and I didnt see anyone from work! Whew!

the only thing that I found bad about 502, but there are other initiatives in the works, so hurray.
You can get a license to grow and sell, but the cost and security measures needed is daunting,

until it changes, only licensed growers can grow marijuana, with medical marijuana also.
But, hopefully you are right that it will probably change soon,

(41,971 posts)(Along with a new urban myth that the cops were gong to bust drivers seen leaving if they had orange fingers--Cheetos would have been better for that!)
Now that marijuana is legal in Washington, there's not much police could do about weed-toting revelers at the city's Hempfest.
But they did want to explain the new rules surrounding recreational marijuana use in the state -- and hit upon a novel distribution format: Doritos.
Sticking the cops' messages on something edible was a no-brainer, Seattle police Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said.
"We knew if we did leaflets, it would turn into litter," he said. "We wanted people to be able to access the information. It's actually fun to read. We wanted to do it in a way that is deliberately ironic."
Each bag contained some sage Dos and Don'ts.
The Don'ts included "Don't drive while high," and "Don't use pot in public. You could be cited but we'd rather give you a warning."

(33 posts)...because I had to work (dang it!) but I read that Seattle PD ran out of the Doritos under an hour after opening! Never underestimate the power of munchies! Speaking of which, out of popcorn. BRB....
In all seriousness, I'm glad the Seattle PD decided to "educate" the public by embracing the munchies! Word has it the stickers on the Doritos involved a "DOs & DON'Ts" list. On the Don'ts list was stuff like smoking in public, driving, operating machinery, etc. On the Dos list was listening to Dark Side of the Moon at full volume and watching Lord of the Rings movies....

A great feeling walking around the tens of thousands that came to Colorado for the festivities.
Now....once the feds finally start taking our tax money....THEN we can truly say prohibition is over.

Not that i'll ever go back - Hempfest 2012 was a sea of anti-legalization numbskull rhetoric. It pretty much made me quit.

never been, but when we tried to enter from Alaskan and Broad, we were told we had to cross the tracks and get in a long line and wait. We couldn't get in from where Pier 70 was. people could leave but we couldn't enter. There were at least two other entrances, but we didn't know that. It wouldn't have been a problem if my knees hadn't been hurting.
It took for ever (over an hour) to get back from the end of the line to where the tracks were that we originally crossed to get where the end of the line was.
Just when we got to almost the end of a line (where we had to cross the tracks again), that's when a train decided to cross and stop... FOR over a half an hour.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!
Not only that, but the Doritos were gone in 30 minutes!!!
Some guy said (after I asked out loud what idiot decided the line should end at the tracks), "Stoners don't get mad".
I said, "No, that's not true. Stoners get mad, they just don't get as mad as the average non-stoner, or something like that.
