(22,308 posts)If someone can't grasp Evolution then they can't have a reasonable conversation.
You could try to ask about all the extinct species and why did God create those only to destroy them... but the "God works in mysterious ways" answer works for them. Evolution can explain extinctions and creationism can't, other than the God's Will thing.

And my understanding of evolution is not that it is chance, but that the best adaptation survives. Doesn't sound like chance.
Looks like she is looking for a single answer to everything. The problem is that this takes away the thrill of searching for the truth.
The beauty of math is that man has studied and stuck with it over eons of trial and error. I daresay math is probably far from being fully discovered yet. Why didn't the god give it to us whole?

(10,610 posts)numbers of combinations and dead-ends that took place over billions of years in order to get us to where we are today. But the human mind is not evolved in such a way as to truly comprehend such a large amount of time in anything other than a vaguely conceptual way. So it is only natural that some people will turn to faith in order to explain patterns that seem impossible, to our limited minds, to have occurred naturally. (At least in any sort of time frame that our minds are fully able to grasp.)
