Democrats Push Back on Voting Rights

"After crying foul over Republican efforts to modify election laws in key states, Democrats are launching their own wide-ranging push to change the way Americans vote, kicking off the latest battles in a fight over voting rights that's as old as the republic itself," the Washington Post reports.

"Legislators in at least seven other states will propose bills that would tweak election laws in other ways. In some states controlled by Democrats, the measures have a good chance to pass. In other states with divided control or that operate under Republican control, Democrats plan to use the measures as political cudgels, painting the GOP as opposed to basic voting rights."

I am always annoyed at MY party when it comes to voting. We HAD a majority in both houses AND the presidency..and we had not yet lost all those governorships, and we twiddled our thumbs.

There should have been an immediate LAW passed that would have grandfathered in ALL people who have previously voted, and there should have been legislation that set in place a STANDARD / UNIFORM ballot for ALL states to use for elected offices that send the winner to DC.

HOW the states "run" the elections would still be in their hands, but when it comes to FEDERAL jobs like congresscritter/senate/president..those ballots need to be standard and voters who have previously voted have already proved they are eligible..BY VOTING...and having their votes ACCEPTED..

We should have created a VOTER Advocacy department that would send people a FEDERAL VOTER ID card (we know which people are citizens...i.e. anyone who has previously voted, for starters...and anyone who was born in the US..since at least WWII).. We know who has been naturalized.

If states want flaming hoops to choose governors, let them go for it, but for FEDERALLY held office, I want standardization....

and we could have done it,,but we did not.
