Just so you know...I have maybe caught Tweety twice in the last two years since I gave up watching MSM for International News Only.
I was feeling I needed to check out something Mainstream about David Miranda's Nine Hour Grilling and Detention yesterday and so I thought I'd check out to see if what his reaction was to this and the NSA Spying (I picked him since I gave up CNN, also, not being able to stand Wolf Blitzer).
Here's what I got in the first fifteen minutes before I turned him off.
Tweety's raving that his Wife and Women of his Generation all support Hillary Clinton and he seemed to be hugely excited about this. He said that Obama is approaching "Lame Duck" status and has become "Reactive" and that the Clintons had their eyes on Presidency since they were kids and so they know how it works. He had a woman on from the New Yorker (I think) who was cautioning him that not all Women would be Hillary supporters because many feel that it's too much of a back and forth politically (I think she meant Bush to Bush, Clinton to another Clinton and that Obama could be seen as a "placeholder" (or something) for the next Clinton Administration.
Tweety came back that she was very powerful and that you couldn't discount the huge amount of Women who see her as Presidential. Then they started on Joe Biden. That he wants to run and wants to keep his name in there with the Warrens and others...in case Hillary decides not to run ...so that Biden becomes the most responsible big guy to be able to handle the job as President.
He went on with more blather about 2016 from some of the Obama Ops and it was so bizarre I had to turn it off. I don't know if he ever talked about the Detention of Miranda at Heath-Rowe...but, it made me realize why I gave up US Cable News and how horrifying it was to see this Election 2016 stuff starting this soon.
Has any Cable News/MSM even mentioned the incident yesterday? Have they talked about NSA Spying?

(27,461 posts)i'm not even going to bother to listen. I imagine what Tweety just said is going to be repeated approximately 800,000 times by various people in the next few years.

(34,648 posts)Matthews loves Hillary. And Chris Christie. He's doing stop and frisk a lot so I've been watching lately.

(84,711 posts)I caught the top 15 minutes of his show and figured it would be his "lead." Maybe he taped it Friday and got back to late from the Hamptons or Nantucket to even update it?

(34,648 posts)He hasn't done it yet today. It went Hilary, The Butler movie, Canadian Cruz, Stop and Frisk, Russia's anti gay law and should we boycott. Next up the ironically named 'let me finish' segment.
No NSA.

(128,748 posts)Joy Reid did (filling in for Martin Bashir @ 4pm ET). And she, IMHO, correctly critiqued Greenwald's "style" of "journalism" (she is a journalist as well).
But as FYI, all the world's news doesn't revolve around the NSA. There are some of us concerned about the "Stop and Frisk" bullshit and the systematic elimination of Voting Rights - which doesn't just cover ONE amendment of the Constitution, but FOUR amendments.

(31,798 posts)In 2007 too. We are seven months into the second Obama administration. We have a Senate and Gov election in NJ this year. Midterms next year.
Until we get past 2014 - I think any pundit making predictions is talking out of his or her ass.

(84,711 posts)Although...I did wonder if he's even covered the NSA Spying. It's a hot topic on International News sites...which also have more "current news" than MSM that relates to the issues you are talking about which are important here in US. Like "Stop & Frisk" and the RW/Koch's taking over all.

(39,367 posts)The global coverage (ME and Asia) is fantastic, plus you get UK vignettes like the anti-gingerism (bullying red heads) demonstration in Glasgow last Saturday. Refreshingly far from the Tweeties of the world.

(84,711 posts)at 5:00 pm/est....and so he "knows" he can't have his Big Deal Two Shows on MSNBC ANYMORE.
You have a good point. He's hoping to get on the Hillary Team as an Advisor.
How could I have missed that! Maybe because I gave up on him two years ago.
So..YEAH! Good Point Politically for him. His wife has already put him on the "Hillary Team!"

(84,711 posts)I gotta Cut that Cord! I've been watching and waiting with my ROKU box (there are other sources to International...I'm not Spamming what I use)...but..when one "cuts out" and goes back for news...it's sort of a HORROR EXPERIENCE. The ASSAULT of THE THINK TANKS pumping at you...and the Advertisements.
UGH!

(84,711 posts)"Peace Corps" when he was young, idealist 60's person and all that blather he did. But, given that I'm close to his generation...I think he joined Peace Corp like many did at that time to do Service that wasn't Vietnam War Related. And, being clever he cashed out of that experience to trade off of it to work his way into Political Op and the rest in the years since.
So..he's Definitely a "Prisoner of His Time" dedicated to his OWN Fortunes.
And I agree about his promoting Hillary. He's so "In the Bubble of his Fortunes and his Wife's that he's lost his way...and doesn't see the Revolution Coming.
