A Prequel to 1984?

Great read I just stumbled upon
http://librarianshipwreck.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/a-prequel-to-1984-just-look-around/

The repression and intimidation of journalists and their loved ones is an important warning sign of which to be aware but it needs to be seen in the context of our current technological environment wherein journalists are being persecuted (if not yet prosecuted) for reporting on a surveillance state to which they open themselves up as targets by reporting.

As a Journalism student, I can probably already assume that I am on some kind of target list because I am getting my degree in Communications and hang out here as well as other 'activism' places on the web... should that effect my writing or what stories I choose to tell? NEVER!
