I wish my title threads conveyed my truth more clearly. However;with the little bit of space

provided, I do my best... However I was asked to be more honest in my lack of connection between Paul Ryan rally to push for "immigration reform" and OFA... I was keenly aware that he voted against the dream act and he is pro growth and not pro labor or pro people who are not rich....Because I believed this to be common knowledge via last years V.P. spot he ran on... I was baffled as to why an org. from the democratic party was using resources for Ryan and thirdly who was going to go to this rally?

Paul Ryan-immigration, he says, ticking off statistics, is about the economy.

"I always look at this as an economics issue," he told the Washington Examiner. "In 2010, the last year we have statistics — I think I can do this off the top of my head — something like 72 percent of the visas were granted to relatives, 7 percent for economic visas. We need an immigration system that's more wired to give our economy the labor it needs to grow faster."

Part of that is a response to the fact that the bill would allow undocumented immigrants a way to become American citizens for the first time in more than three decades. Not that it's going to be easy or cheap.

Several border security hurdles must also be cleared before undocumented immigrants can complete the path to citizenship. The bill requires the Department of Homeland Security to submit to Congress within six months of its passage plans to achieve unprecedented levels of border security. This includes preventing illegal border crossings and fortifying the fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

After those plans are submitted, undocumented immigrants could begin to apply for provisional legal status ("Registered Provisional Immigrant Status," or RPI), the first step on the path to citizenship. Although it's important to note that undocumented immigrants who arrived after Dec. 31, 2011 would be barred from applying, a cutoff date that could prevent thousands from being legalized.

Wisconsin congressman opposed DREAM Act legislation, wants tighter border controls and rejects any version of comprehensive reform that includes a path toward legal residency for the country’s 11 million undocumented residents. http://immigration.about.com/od/Browse-Topic/a/Paul-Ryan-On-Immigration.htm

A bi-partisan Senate immigration policy plan has won support of many key political leaders. But some within the African-American community say it could hurt low wage black workers. Guest host Celeste Headlee discusses the issue with Harry Holzer of Georgetown University; and Lesley Jordan, a food industry worker from Los Angeles.

Latinos, the nation’s fastest-growing voting bloc, are poised to play a potentially decisive role in this fall’s presidential election, but new data suggests that turnout might fall short of lofty projections, which could change the fate of the race for the White House.

I believe Paul Ryan when he says immigration is economics.. And I believe it when the bill says this will not be a cheap process. Supposedly by those who are going to be paid low wages... I just don't want to put anymore of our countries economic resource into homeland security.... or line the pockets of corporations that will harvest cheap labor at the expensive of both new American citizens and current American Citizens.... I think immigration reform could be done with much more respect to families trying to stay together... Pay a living minimum wage of $22.00. an hour...and don't let corporations exploit cheap labor... for guest works, or American citizens.. We need to stand together to better our working conditions and stop being decided and conquered by these cheap ploys of reform....

You could have much done better than "OFA helps Paul Ryan. They will rally for him... " lamp_shade Aug 2013 #1
