The Republican party is no longer a viable poltical party

they are a splintered group, resorting to obstruction and sabotage. They've forgotten how to govern, only exist now to torment people. They seem to get a perverse pleasure doing that, just about the only thing they can do.

...Obama; blame Obama for what he can't finish regardless of congress that isn't progressive enough

I'm not expecting perfection just MOST of the things I care about winning the day in the end

I just don't believe Gore ran AWAY from the economy of Clinton, it HAD to be FUD

Same with Carter

Not when so many centrist Dems are willing to do the work for the 1% that the GOP used to do.

It just means we'll be a single party country in national elections.

Giving us things like Social Security, a 5 day work week, child labor laws, labor laws, medicare... and they just won't shut up about it.

The next thing that they will expect is to continue these failed policies instead of privatizing instead. And if that is not enough they don't like being spied on!

It just makes my blood boil, and I even can't have that without them saying it is global warming or such piffle!

8. They're quite effective from the 1%er point of view. They're a GAP store in Times Square.

The GAP operates shops in places like the vicinity of Times Square, where the rent is so high that there's no way they can sell enough jeans to make a profit there. But that store isn't there to make a profit. It's a 3-dimensional billboard. Those locations are about expanding their brand recognition, not their retail sales.

We have such vast wealth disparities in this country that 1% of our population has essentially purchased both of our major political parties. From their perspective, who cares if one isn't nationally viable? It doesn't matter. It's just as effective as nothing more than a foil for the other party, which is free to walk just as far right/corporate as it likes.

9. I keep seeing these predictions

that the GOP is done, splintering, has no support etc.

I recall back in 1976 after Nixon/Ford there were many saying there would never be another Republican President. We know how true that prediction has played out.

Until you can put the GOP in a coffin and drive a stake through its heart, burn the corpse and scatter the ashes it will exist. Even then there will be something similar with a different name.

Me, I think the Republican party is a psychic vampire with its own cable propaganda outlet and more money than God, Jehovah, Allah and Yahweh bluffing each other on a high stakes poker millennium.

Pound a stake through its heart and throw it in a woodchipper and the the Republican party would reassemble itself like that liquid metal Terminator just through the sheer gravitational pull of all that damn money.
