Man dressed in black, armed with AK-47, fires inside Georgia elementary school

A 19-year-old man dressed in black and armed with an AK-47 assault rifle fired at least six shots at police from inside an elementary school in suburban Atlanta on Tuesday and may have stashed explosives in his car parked outside, according to police and school officials.

No one was injured in the shooting that sent children running from their classrooms about 1 p.m., when the gunman apparently made his way into the school by following someone authorized to enter, police said. The shooter, whose identity was not released, surrendered to police inside the school and was taken into custody, DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander told reporters.

The gunman barricaded himself inside an administrative office at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Ga. He forced an employee to call an Atlanta TV station to demand that it send a crew to "watch police die," according to WSB-TV.

Police returned fire after the man shot at them, Alexander said.

What's your point? Guns are the cause? No. They are not. Neither are single-shooter video games. They are a symptom.

We are a vindictive, militaristic, punitive people taught to be such from birth. Rah, Rah, USA!

Guns are a symptom. An effective killing version of a symptom; but a symptom.

We honor those personalities many of us would define as psychopathic were we not so busy worshipping their success.

Watch "Bowling for Columbine."

Symptom or no, ignoring a sucking chest wound because the patient has a family history of heart disease is bad medicine.

The doctors couldn't look beyond the weight to her symptoms. By the time they...oh, wait...they didn't.

Personal prejudices color all that we see and scientists, medical doctors, and political operatives are no different.

By the time they looked beyond her weight and looked at the symptoms her cancer had advanced to the advanced stages. She died within months of her diagnosis.

I would have loved to have met her. We had much in common. Except I'm "skinny" and she was "fat."

Don't fucking pull that shit with me. I have personal experience. A sucking chest wound is what "democracy" has become. Congratulations for being a new convert.

At least no one was hurt this time, but it's still frustrating that people STILL aren't getting it yet; we need more regulations on guns like this....and better enforcement, too, while we're at it.

Thought he wanted a massacre then shoot out, but pussed out after walking through the door. Thank goodness he's a gutless coward. Now let him rot in prison.
