I feel sorry for those who will put themselves through such treatment at such high prices to worship a bunch of overpaid athletes. But not much.

we worship sports way too much. In fact last year I got penalized on this board because I spoiled the results of the Olympic events and announced them before they came on the idiot tube!

although they're looking for drugs, not terrorists. Interestingly, the concert where I experienced the hugest cloud of marijuana smoke was a George Benson (smooth jazz) show with no pat-downs at the entry gates.

I think at the Toby show they were looking for weapons not drugs. No pat down just had to walk through the detectors.

Now the Prince show they should have done the pat downs. It was smelling very kind in the arena.

were discussing it. Lots of "well, who really needs a bag larger than X" type bullshit. (Diaper bag? Not that I think it's the world's greatest idea to take an infant to a ballgame, but it happens.) It was just a variant of the "well, if you're innocent, then you have nothing to fear" arguments.

I imagine they check to see if you have any money left in your pockets on the way in, and confiscate it.

Sort of like Disney.

If I was to go to a game, I don't drag my whole life with me like other people do because they need rations for a three hour game, and annoy everyone else around me taking up room spilling into other's seat space.

Its main function is to condition the public into acceptance of surveillence state, and to force peep to pay stadium prices for food, etc, rather than sneak their own in.

Goodwin this, (not the OP) but the techniques are more and more like any other police sate including Germany.
