The real time view from the rocket is astounding. Especially the sounds. Especially when the rocket shuts down.

Amazing! Somebody's going to quickly hire these people.

That 900 fps was the maximum speed coming down with a drogue parachute attached, screaming through some pretty thin atmosphere (or the lack of it).

But Werner Von Braun didn't...

By the way, this is me on the right, a rocketboi in the spring of 1965. The rocket was no 100,000 foot monster, but we did get 4,000 feet out of it using a zinc-sulphur propellant.

I never wanted to fly power, it was too noisy and goal-oriented - too much like just driving around. I wanted to get as close as I could to feeling wings growing out of my shoulders Longest duration flight was 7.5 hours, longest distance 350 km. All flatland thermal flying in Ontario, Canada.

Hi kpete,
Thanks for posting that, incredible. Brought me back to my days of launching Estes rockets, this went a bit higher than my triple stage D engine one though.

Peace

It's also the ubiquitous nature of the Internet that makes this information easy to find and collate.

Amazing.

So then I'm right about being wrong.

A local rocket club used to call in launch times to the Air Force base 40 miles south of here, or so the rocketeer president told me. They built some impressive rockets but were definitely not in this league, though.
