Oh wait... he wasn't convicted of treason? Huh.
And he was also acquitted on the charge of aiding the enemy? Wow.
So the two biggest things I get off throwing around about the guy are something he wasn't charged with and something else he was acquitted of by a military court?
Well shit.
It's just not a satisfying tantrum without throwing "traitor" in there somewhere.
Since he was convicted of espionage I guess I could call him a spy, but the thing is... I'm kind of on a pro-spying kick right now.

(55,894 posts)so who is throwing a tantrum? LOL
So typical of DU. One person starts a thread and suddenly that translates to "people".

(10,960 posts)is obviously false.
Your specific claim that the OP was written in response to one person is not very good as a mind-reading trick.
And the author of a famous OP about what he/she was, in specific, sick and tired of he/she being called, individually, taking me to task for attention seeking or over-specificity is comical.

(75,480 posts)millions, are walking around as free millionaires having made their fortunes from those deaths, yet Manning who exposed those criminals and their deeds goes to prison. We all know who the real traitors are and I hope we see justice delivered to them in the future and Manning pardoned.

I thought she pledged to protect the Constitution? I thought Bushco was the enemy? I can't keep up with all the spinning lately...

(5,279 posts)Wanton publication of intelligence on Internet.
Ms. Manning didn't release anything onto the internet, wikileaks did. And if that is about the attack helicopter video, I don't remember a single intelligent choice made by any US person during the entire incident. Unless the Wanton Publication of Gross Dereliction of Duty/Stupidity on the Internet is illegal, I gotta call that one a pass.
Espionage Act violations
Espionage requires three components; a sender, a doer, and a target. A spy is dispatched to gather intelligence on a target. We call spying and not reporting to anyone, being nosey.
If the government was the target of the espionage, and Ms. Manning was the spy. Then the ones who benefited from the released information fits the "sender" slot.
Ms. Manning released secrets, via the internet ( his trained specialty, his form of communication) to the American People. He spied for us. Any information which might have gotten sidetracked to any theoretical enemy is collateral damage. The same as the innocent funeral attendants standing near a drone targeted person. An acceptable cost.
