That's awful. I can see Shakti Mills from my window right now. The sexual violence in India is absolutely appalling.

And is the violence, from your POV, increasing, or simply being reported on more?

is it a recent phenomenon? I'd never heard about rampant sexual violence in India until a year or so ago. Was it just never reported? Or has something changed there?

Reporting has been so atrocious in the past that nobody knows. My wife works for the State Department and deals with domestic/gender/sexual violence issues; I'll ask her if there's a white paper on this.
