In posting the photo, the employee gave some background on his boss and the receipt:
Mention the 99% in my boss presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesnt sufficiently bow down to his Holiness. Oh, and he always makes sure to include a tip of his own.
The "tip" of his own in this case was to tell the server to "get a real job." Pleasant.

(100,080 posts)I work customer service occasionally at my job - I know what assholes people can be. So as a rule of thumb I really try to be nice to people who work those jobs because I know how shitty they can get.
And if you want to know what happens when you're a jerk to them, watch the recent Broken Lizard flick "The Slammin' Salmon".

(47,675 posts)"Two ice waters with lemon and two lagers?" as you sit down. Servers remember how you tip. And the "before beverages" rule is bullshit. They didn't make the food and didn't make the beer. If it's on the tab, tip on THAT total (including what it would have cost if you hadn't used a coupon). That's hard work.

(65,075 posts)First, wait staff have a REAL job.
Secondly, somebody has to do those jobs, so why insult people for doing it?
This guy is a buffoon. And, i would venture to guess he's not really a 1%er. IMO, you're one of them when the job is not really your primary source of income.
I don't have the stats in front of me, but i make a very good salary, have a pretty darned good net worth, but i'm not 1%. Maybe technially i am, i'm not sure. I sure know the difference though.
This guy probably doesn't.

Fox Restaurant Concepts (no, not the same Fix we all know and love) - owned by Sam Fox - I just contacted him and let him know that I will be going to one of his restaurants shortly and will give the server the tip equal to my cost of food. In honor of Breanna.
I suggest you all do the same.

Hey, if all of the peasants had real jobs, then how would people like him manage to eat?

(1,326 posts)Having known people in that 1%, I can honestly say that they are among the CHEAPEST people you've ever had the misfortune of knowing. One couple I knew, the guy would leave such a horrible tip in restaurants that his girlfriend told me that she used to pretend she left something at the table, and run back and toss her own cash onto the table so the server wouldn't receive a bad tip.
And as for the comment that was left- Waiter and Waitress aren't "real jobs"? News to me... I'm sure they work harder in one day than this nasty cheap-ass works in an entire year.

With 2 exceptions (the President of Burpee Seeds and the President of General Dynamics) all the others were absolute cheapskates. Usually their "tip" for schlepping tons of suitcases 4 floors up in July's heat was $1.00. Thanks, guys. A bunch of cheapskate pricks.

(4,035 posts)He deserves to lose his 'job' and have to take a real job, like waitressing, and he'll soon see what is the real job.
Since American price levels are very much below what I am used to, I always leave quite a tip when I'm in the US. The food will still be cheaper, and I know the rules concerning minimum wage for waiters in the US are incredibly stupid. Less than $3 an hour? Since my relative wage level is so much higher, I can leave substantial tip - in Norway, I usually go for 10%.

(28,795 posts)Take that. See how long you'll last WITHOUT the Top 1%. They supply all the jobs and generate the majority of the economy. If you don't like them, why should they continue to provide 38% of the federal tax revenue. They should just move and see how long a millionaire is considered someone making $250,000/yr. or more. If libs had their way, a millionaire would be someone pulling in $60,000/yr. Why do you think NY lost a congressional seat? Because the rich people decided to leave.
here's a very apt response:
This post illustrates exactly why conservatives are no longer the authority on fiscal matters. They explode the deficit and then tell you how to reduce it. They destroy the economy and then tell you how to fix it. They suck the jobs out of our country and then tell you how to put people back to work. You are blocking the way for the rest of us who actually care about one another. Btw, I am middle class, dine out once a week and leave any where from 15 to 20% every time. Value the work, respect the worker
