JONAH wants to help you pray away the gay

JONAH, Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing, is a non-profit international organization dedicated to educating the world-wide Jewish community about the social, cultural and emotional factors which lead to same-sex attractions. JONAH works directly with those struggling with unwanted same-sex sexual attractions (SSA) and with families whose loved ones are involved in homosexuality...read full mission statement

Desperate Teenager Doesn't Want to Be Gay By: Neil in Florida
I have grown light years from the first E-mail I sent asking for help. My counselor not only worked with me on a weekly basis but he also gave me regular homework to complete between our sessions. I have learned the lessons he so diligently provided and I applied the concepts I learned into everyday living. I have conquered social fears that I had; I have challenged irrational thoughts which for a time (too long) stood unchallenged; I have regained my manhood which feels just great. Now I can see myself marrying, having kids and being able to educate and teach them all the life lessons they will need with the help of my future wife. The work I have done with JONAH and its counselors have provided me with the tools I needed not only to live my life but more importantly to enter into a marriage and to help my future kids.. More..

A Struggler's Prayer By: Paul from England

Show me how I can assist other men to be true to their God-given masculinity.
I pray that you will deliver to me opportunities to demonstrate my masculinity, according to your true purpose for me, and also to help other men do the same.
Give me the courage to form lasting meaningful friendships with other men that allow my masculinity to develop further. More..

In 2007, JONAH established a separate division, The Jonah Institute for Gender Affirmation, to provide research and clinical strategies for growth out of homosexuality. Jews are obligated to reach out and serve the entire community under the principle of tikkum olam (working together with G-d to heal and perfect the world); simultaneously we are commanded to avoid proselytizing while offering such help. In this respect, both JONAH and the new Institute differ from most other faith-based ministries because we assist non-Jewish individuals and families in a manner which will not threaten their personal religious or secular beliefs.

http://www.jonahweb.org/index.php

JONAH believes that homosexuality is a learned behavior and that anyone can choose to disengage from their same-sex sexual fantasies, arousals, behavior and identity - if motivated and supported in that process. We also believe that with appropriate assistance, same-sex attractions can be reduced or eliminated followed by the subsequent development of one's innate opposite-sex attractions.

JONAH believes those who feel same-sex attraction should be able to make an informed decision about whether they wish to act on their same-sex attraction and identify as gay or whether they wish to journey out of homosexuality. JONAH provides the information needed to make a reasoned choice and then provides resources to those who choose to grow out of same-sex attraction. JONAH teaches that strugglers can journey away from homosexuality with psychological and spiritual help, peer support, and personal empowerment. Its objective is to reunify families, to heal the wounds surrounding homosexuality, and to provide hope that persons with unwanted same-sex attraction can become the person that G-d intended them to be.

It is in this atmosphere that pro-deviationist sentiments have proliferated, reaching into many strata of society. Significantly, religious groups have joined the sociologists and ideologists of deviance to affirm what has been called "man's birthright of unbounded ambisexuality." A number of Protestant churches in America, and an occasional Catholic clergyman, have plead for more sympathetic attitudes toward homosexuals. Following the new Christian permissiveness espoused in Sex and Morality (1966), the report of a working party of the British Council of Churches, a group of American Episcopalian clergymen in November 1967 concluded that homosexual acts ought not to be considered wrong, per se. A homosexual relationship is, they implied, no different from a heterosexual marriage: but must be judged by one criterion -"whether it is intended to foster a permanent relation of love." Jewish apologists for deviationism have been prominent in the Gay Liberation movement and have not hesitated to advocate their position in American journals and in the press. Christian groups began to emerge which catered to a homosexual clientele, and Jews were not too far behind. This latest Jewish exemplification of the principle of wie es sich christelt, so juedelt es sich will be discussed at the end of this essay.

Homosexual militants are satisfied neither with a "mental health" approach nor with demanding civil rights. They are clear in insisting on society's recognition of sexual deviance as an "alternative lifestyle," morally legitimate and socially acceptable.

Sexual preference has nothing to do with being masculine, or feminine.

Bears and lipstick lesbians... you can be masculine, or feminine, and like males, or females.

It's not one or the other.

If humans are going to evolve to the next level that needs to happen. These clear cut black and white man/woman forms of gender are hurting us as a species and they're becoming increasingly irrelevant. Gender lines are starting to blur and I think it it's what would make humanity better in the long run.

These groups like JONAH are just plain evil - it's so wrong to think they can change who a person is, and it's evil to take a person's right to date who they want to date.

If you're not straight, by God, you're not straight and all the prayers in the world will never change that. Hundreds of marital train wrecks in the works here. I can see this coming and I'm a happily married, straight Christian black woman. SMDH

Mission & Doctrine

Mission Statement

Mobilizing the body of Christ to minister grace and truth to a world impacted by homosexuality.

Doctrinal Statement

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word Of God, the final authority for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction for right living. We believe in one God, existing eternally in three Persons:Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, fully man and fully God, only begotten Son of the Father. he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, buried and rose physically from the dead. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will come again in power and glory.

We believe that faith alone in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord frees us from the mastery of sin, and its consequences of death and eternal damnation. He assumed the penalty of death Himself, and enables us to live out of His resurrected life unto eternity. We believe the Holy Spirit carries out this work of renewal in our lives, empowering us to grow in loving union with our Heavenly Father and to walk in obedience to His will. We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is formed of all those who know Him as their Savior and Lord, regardless of denominational beliefs.

Parents

It’s not easy being a parent, especially when faced with a controversial and complex subject like homosexuality. On this page, you will find resources for addressing homosexuality. If you have found out that your child is gay, we have many resources to help both you and your child. You can also find support and encouragement through Living Hope’s online forums.

If you are a parent looking to get involved with your child’s school system, we have links to information about the pro-gay education in schools and opt-out forms for protecting your children. If you are a wondering if your child might be at risk for homosexuality, we have contacts where you can learn more and investigate. We also have links to books and resources that you may find helpful.

Help, My Child is Gay!

“Well you know that I’m gay don’t you?”

I will never forget the day I heard those words. For me there has never been a pain so great as learning that only son, at sixteen, decided he was a homosexual!

How could this happen in our family, we were Christians!!! How could my son do this to me? We had always been so close.

My heart was broken, and nothing since that day, many years ago, has ever hurt that bad. I was dev

astated and not sure I would ever be OK again. I needed information but was too embarrassed to ask for it and there was no Internet where you could find out all kinds of things in secret.

But I did learn to trust God more. I had no choice. He brings life into any situation and I felt like I was going to die, sometimes wishing I could die.

Since that time I have grown as a Christian and learned many things. God has used my suffering to help others, making good come out of this painful time.

I encourage you to spend time getting to know God in a deeper way and take one day at a time. May God bless you and keep you through this difficult time.

If your child is gay, we have support both for you and for your child. We provide online articles, books and support groups for parents, so you can process this with other people who understand.

Start by reading Where to Go for Help. Next you will want to join a support group where you can learn more and deal with your own pain. If they are old enough, they can get help and support from your local Exodus ministry or online through the Living Hope Youth Forums.

Children at Risk

If you believe your pre-adolescent child may be at risk for homosexuality, the Exodus Bookstore has resources that will help you learn more about GID (Gender Identity Disorder) and pre-homosexual conditions.

Your local Exodus Ministry can provide you with referrals to Christian Counselors in your area who can help.

Homosexual Parents

Despite news stories to the contrary, homosexual parents have a profound effect on their children. These children are at greater risk for a number of negative factors, including the development of gender confusion and same-gendered attractions.

Linked at right are statements and research from the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the American College of Pediatricians, and the Family Research Institute regarding homosexuality, parenting and adoption.

If you are dealing with difficult legal issues in your family, the Liberty Counsel may be able to help.

from a parent: "How could you do this to me?", as if the child had just stabbed them or crapped in their bed. Excuuuuuse me, but the child is simply being him/herself. Makes me want to throw them some wood and three nails so they can completely act out their "martyrdom". Meddlesome, control-freak people like those people are primary examples of why some people don't deserve the gift of having children. Nobody gets to "choose" their orientation. They sure as hell can "choose" crazyass "religion" and use it as a crutch to justify their bigotry and willful ignorance.

I might suggest they "choose" to become educated and get some therapy for those control-freak, guilt-slinging neuroses. My heart goes out to those poor kids.

I wish I believed in hell. I could easily imagine Exodus or JONAH perps sizzling in it. Clearly, there's big money in keeping the "mental" in fundamentalism.

Thanks for posting, BTA. Folks need to know what kind of severely disordered thinking is out there.

I post many news stories I come across and don't need any sort of motivation to do so.

You are thinking of something I suspect by asking this, why not just say what you are thinking?

I think JONAH is wrong here and hope the exposure hurts their efforts.

There are tons of these groups and they're all full of crap. Anyone with a soul knows this.

And without the last sentence, not much is clear.

At least now we know that you think that this is an unusual (if not unique) group.
