Mike Tyson says he’s ‘on the verge of dying,’ opens up about drug problems

During his first press conference as a promoter, boxing great Mike Tyson provided details on his path to sobriety and making amends with former trainer Teddy Atlas.

“I’m on the verge of dying because I’m a vicious alcoholic,” Tyson said on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

Of Atlas, with whom Tyson has a longstanding feud following a falling out in the 1980s, Tyson said, “I don’t want to fight you anymore. I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

2. Good luck. Despite a whole bunch of things, I always found something likable in Tyson.

I enjoyed his Herman Cain spoof videos for one thing. I could see him finding some kind of media niche and being pretty entertaining really.

Alcohol is one of the worst drugs in the world. You can become addicted, you can become uninhibited and do or say regrettable things, you can get ill, you can vomit, you can suffer acute death, or you can suffer chronic illness until your demise.

My advice:

Smoke pot instead.

One of the many reasons I prefer the company of stoners over alcoholics. And I don't even smoke.
