After 4chan manhunt, cat-kicker slapped with animal cruelty charges

Walter Easley, the South Carolina teenager who recorded video of himself kicking a cat, has been charged with cruelty to animals thanks to 4chan.

Easley, 17, of Cordova, S.C., was arrested Monday and faced a court magistrate Tuesday after a 6-second video of him abusing a cat set off 4chan's random imageboard /b/ on a witchhunt. The charge of animal cruelty is a misdemeanor. If convicted, Easley could face a 60-day sentence, the Times and Democrat reported.

Easley became Internet infamous on Aug. 11 after Reddit and 4chan tracked down the horrific Vine video. After the video went viral, Easley deleted the record, but not before the Daily Dot preserved it as a GIF. Easley also made his Twitter profile, @SuckMy_Walt, private but it was too late; /b/ had already set its sights on bringing Easley to justice.

The community created two different Pastebin documents featuring Easley's home address, cell phone number, and a link to his sister’s Facebook page. They also included a link to the Times and Democrat so users could contact the paper.

4chan has made a habit of this.
I would think twice before posting anything showing someone even thinking about harming a cat. They are watching, and if they find out, they WILL get you.

by hiring folks in 4chan and Anonymous to work in national security.

The FBI, CIA, and NSA seem more adept at sucking up money and ticking off the general populace than anything else.

That said, good for 4chan.

As far as I'm concerned there isn't any punishment bad enough for a waste of humanity like that punk or anyone that abuses animals or anyone weaker or smaller than they are.

If you look at his eyes and face the expression seems to be 'What's the dig fuckin' deal?'

There's an excellent chance he's a child and or woman beater in the making.

Or maybe he'll murder someone because he got "bored" or wanted to see what it's like.

After all these years of rescuing cats I still get just as mad now as I did on our first rescue.

This is Patches. He wasn't the first but one of the most reprehensible acts of cruelty that we had seen. He was in a bag thrown from a truck into the middle of the street. My wife was working 3rd shift in a local grocery store and saw it thru the window. She thought it was trash and went out to pick it up and throw it away. He was so young that he was still nursing. We took care of him and thought we'd found a home for him when he was 3 months old. After a week the person changed her mind and we got him back. There was nothing wrong with him and we didn't get a reason. At least she brought him back. He passed away a few years ago, lying between my wife and I, on the couch when he was 12 years old from a virus.

This thread made me think of Patches and his story. Hope it's OK to tell it. Hijacking and all that. Still feeling my way around DU.

Hooray for 4chan!!!

There can't be enough done to protect those that look to us for love and protection. Whether they're animals or people.

were going fishing. I was a passenger and the acquaintance was driving down this gravel road to a nearby creek. A little kitten ran across the road and this guy swerved to run it over. He missed, so he stops and grabs a 22 cal rifle from behind the seat and shoots the kitten dead. Pissed off, I said what the hell is wrong with you! He then goes into this story about how many wild rabbits, etc etc this wild cat will kill in a lifetime. I said, we're less than 500 yards from a farm house, it could have been easily someones pet! I told him to take me home, the guy scared the shit out of me.
