Actress Julie Harris has died

She starred in one of the most frightening movies I ever saw, as a child - The Haunting. It still gives me chills to watch it.

She was an absolutely amazing actress whose talents spanned from movies to television to stage. A real treasure. Only from reading her obituary did I find out she was born in Michigan.

She was one of the best actors I have ever seen, out of thousands. Almost like actual magic, the power of her presence on the stage.

I was in the 7th grade when I saw "The Haunting" and I was scared witless.

RIP Julie Harris!

The last of her generation of "real" actresses...and didn't she do an episode of Columbo?

And she was her always usual great but Liz and Marlon, who were so often misused, were here well herded by HUSTON. Julie got a great line, her of a certain social status looking around the asylum they committed her to: "What a choice crew."

And, as said in another thread, Brian KEITH, the whole thing was a great achievement. R.I.P. Dame Julie, (I've bestowed the title myself).

The very first time I saw it, I was mystified, but that's becuase I was too young. The next time I saw it I was old enough to understand that there was such a thing as impotence. A few years after that, I finally understood what it was really about!

in which she starred with Alan Alda in the late 60s and early 70s.

She (as did Alda) played three different roles (one in each act) in that play and she was absolutely wonderful.

I feel a loss.

RIP Ms Harris.

I didn't realize she lived in Chatham.

She had a beautiful week before she died--perfect weather.
