Is this your experience of local andr national news - unverified political thinktank &/or corporate issed pr bulllshit ("The Cato inst says welfare queens are a real thing!!1!!. They get like around 75K a year!", a marketing "story" about Apple or MS, etc. and hypey weathercasts?

(154,021 posts)at times the Sherriffs. Depending on the fire dept, you also have news releases over major fires, and Cal Fire is very good at using the twitter to keep people in the know.
These days, if I am told by insert law enforcement here or fire dept here, that the accident was due to speed, or the fire is 10% contained, I know they are pretty much on the level. News releases from city agencies, or for that matter from companies use some salt with it. Depends on the city, how large the boulder... and depends on the issue as well.
Also depending on the issue whether you need to look at multiple bouncy balls or not. If it involves any major development, there is always more to that story.
We are too small to worry about CATO though.
