Colin Powell: Trayvon Martin verdict 'questionable'

AP 4:25 p.m. EDT August 25, 2013
Colin Powell urged President Obama to speak more on issues of race during a Sunday interview.

... "I think that it will be seen as a questionable judgment on the part of the judicial system down there, but I don't know if it will have staying power," Powell said. "These cases come along and they blaze across the midnight sky and then after a period of time, they're forgotten."

That doesn't mean Obama should keep silent, though, Powell said.

"I'd like to see him be more passionate about race questions," Powell said of Obama, whom he endorsed during the 2008 and 2012 presidential election.

"For the president to speak out on it is appropriate. I think all leaders, black and white, should speak out on this issue," the Republican added ...

him being AWOL on issues repeatedly posted in you-know-where after scanning DU today.

One crime story post said Obama had not talked about senseless killings, gang violence in the black community, the 'urban' meme. He has brought it up every time he has talked about guns, jobs, education, assistance and moral guidance to end it, but no coverage. You have to pay attention, it's at the end of almost all of them, and we know what he's talking about.

Remember that was the focus of the heckled meeting with Michelle, but her message was drowned out by the staged disruption.

It's a pattern to get the public mind off the issues. Remember the guy in the Rose Garden acting up when Obama was saying something very important. No one said a thing about that. The media diversion sucked all the air out of the room, ignoring the real issue.

The media goes with the trivial and refuses to let people know what he has to say. They don't want us to think about issues and solutions.

It's only with youtube videos and a couple of websites we get a chance to know what he's doing. Obama has worked under a media blackout except for unavoidable events like being elected.

Add the unprecedented lying and shilling last year for Romney. Now they did not correct Powell, either. How many will believe it or even watch the video?

I don't correct the media memes, I'm tired of the amnesia, or the lack of attention until the next shiny thing is dangled to obstruct the work of this administration.

You can bet if Neo-cons like Powell is reputed to be as a Bush general, had anything to say, it would be repeated ad nauseum. Another day, another negative meme.

Thanks for posting it here, though, FWIW.

I'm on DU so much. Just in some small way.. getting the actual reality of what's happened. So they don't get to rewrite history as much as they'd like.

Thanks for being a fellow perpetrator of facts.

12. Thanks, fellow perpetrator of facts. Facts are now 'thoughtcrime' to 1% media true believers.

To entertain unacceptable thought is known as crimethink in Newspeak, the ideologically purified dialect of the party.

Refuting the 1% media meme is a crime in the Koch Kingdom. Sigh...

it's down right wrong. That's what happens when you have a racist prosecutor lay down and die for the defense and when you let the defense pick an ignorant cracker jury. Powell needs to come out more forcefully!
