just caught something about police (on bicycles??) being called onto the field for some football game? police on a football field?? WHY??

(32,006 posts)A dumbass fan (wearing neither team's colors!) ran on the field, and NBC cut to an aerial view. The SFPD then brought in extra officers on patrol. No need to panic.

(10,713 posts)I imagine it makes for an easy shift, they seem to enjoy it and nobody minds that they're there. Mostly they are good people who grew up here and probably went to school here.
The only trouble I ever saw was a couple of kids "streaked" through the field during half-time once, and two cops had to go run (jog) after them. I don't remember hearing that they caught them or that anything came of it.

Apparently some of our local folks are a bit too impressionable.
