Obamacare and right wing emails.

Now and then, I get nutty, right-wing emails from "friends." Most of the time, I ignore them. But the latest one bothers me: It claims that Catholic hospitals will have to close because of Obamacare. WTF? Where are they getting this?

I have some family members that despise Obama and ANYTHING he does. So of course they absolutely hate the ACA. They continually post false statements about the law on FB and I relentlessly show them they are incorrect with facts.

The latest was the UPS dropping working spouse's because of Obamacare. From my own personal experience my wife's coverage was better than mine so we just used hers under the family plan.... my employer then paid me a bit more per hour just because I didn't take the health insurance and save them money. This all changed in 2005 or 6 when lo and behold my wife's insurance informed us that if I had the option to take insurance from my employer I MUST do so or they would not cover me anymore. This also applied to car insurance....if for some reason we lapsed on our car coverage we wouldn't be covered for hospital care if we were in an accident.

This had ZERO to do with Obamacare...since it was pre ACA...and all to do with saving the insurance company money.

what is funny as we are finding out in Kentucky...lol... that the new insurance markets are call kynect... or something like that and republicans are loving it.... not knowing it is just the ACA kicking in providing cost adjusted premiums for the citizens.

as long as they don't know it is the ACA they think it is a great program.

The true fear of the right wing is that it will actually work and their base may wake up to the fact that they had been lied too....

Life in the great USA....

... there is no doubt a link to fear and rage about abortion coverage. If we could please point out for the millionth time, the ACA has nothing to do with abortion -- it has been a specific exclusion for Medicaid etc. for years and years and years. Any person or institution that accepts government money for health care has to pay for abortion services out of their own pockets. It's been that way forever.

My Congresswoman, bless her heart, had a clause inserted in the ACA that would continue this exclusion. She is pro-choice, but she and others in the caucus believed that at least the GOP would not be able to scuttle the ACA on that particular excuse.

Opponents are all getting desperate, so the lies are proliferating and the shit is flying.
