Beyond demonstrating the absurdity of refusing definitive evidence by the state of Hawaii (which would require that President Obama's parents travel back in time and also plant a birth announcement in a newspaper), I have always understood the birther argument as a distraction and not a legitimate means of protest. And I personally would not have a problem voting for a real and true left-wing candidate even if he or she was not born on US soil.
With that being said, I don't give a shit where Ted Cruz was born. He could have been delivered at the foot of the Statue of Liberty underneath a 4th of July fireworks celebration. He's a fucking idiot. And any attempt to draw the argument towards his citizenship is merely a distraction, intentional or unintentional, from the important issues. The man is a cartoon character. If we can't beat him on the issues, we are hopeless.
