Postal Union Members give $5,000 to defend Solidarity Sing Along (Wisconsin)

The National Postal Press Association and the Americal Postal Workers Union gave the Solidarity Sing Along an incredible boost, and made a bunch of us cry, by donating $1,000 and pledging another $4,000 to the First Amendment Protection Fund http://solidaritysingalong.org. The First Amendment Protection Fund is helping to defray the court costs of those citizens who are arrested for exercising their First and Fourth Amendment rights at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

After an amazing Friday Sing Along, which was joined by many members of the PPA who were in town for their biennial conference, the PPA invited folks from the Sing Along to come to their Saturday night banquet, to sing a few songs. We had such a blast singing that night. The room was receptive, and many people joined in. We were on a real high as we started to leave after our singing was done. Then the National Postal Press Association President, Tony Carobine, called us back into the room and made the announcement that caused several of us to burst into tears.

Please support your local post office. Buy some stamps, even if you're not going to use them. Ship via USPS instead of those alternatives. We all know how the republicans are trying to crush the United States Postal Service. I just can't tell you what this show of support by their Union members does to validate our ongoing fight at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
