General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsNote to Chris Hayes and MSNBC in general: When Meghan McCain is a panelist, I skip the segment.
If you want to book a millionaire heiress, go with Paris Hilton.
The daughter of a failed candidate from four years ago is irrelevant.
Hilton would at least provide a few laughs.
Oh, and on edit: I am watching a later segment from yesterday's Up With Chris, and Chris did a fact check on something McCain said, and it turns out She Lied about the identity of someone who shot a rancher in Arizona. She said it was an illegal alien, when in fact, the shooter has not been identified.
MSNBC, Fire Her.

(37,648 posts)He mispronounced something the other day that is commonly known, which proved what I've thought all along...he's a pretty stupid kid who is on TV because of his Dad. He seems to know almost nothing about politics or history, so why would I watch HIM try to analyze something or present a discussion of something political? Whenever I see him, I change the channel.

(96,793 posts)I definitely won't watch the son.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)I've watched snippets of his show but changed the channel. But I never saw her.
Meghan McCain is not like Paris Hilton. Meghan has been at least peripherally involved in politics for much of her life, been on the campaign trail, writes about politics, etc. Re that illegal immigrant...you say she lied. If it'd been Weiner who'd said that, you would say that he had been mistaken.
She's a moderate Repub, which isn't far from the center, which isn't far from left of center. I usually watch shows that try to present all sides of issues. That's the only way to get the facts. Otherwise, it'd be like the Fox watchers.

(63,912 posts)I don't think she'll be invited back.
He's got too many high powered brains to compete with her! Really, really smart women who are very interesting to listen to and learn from. Meghan is from the stupid past. Nobody else on the show was there because their daddy was famous. Her 15 minutes were up a long time ago, IMO...

Same here - whenever they tell me she will be on, I change channels. Often they are kind enough to tell use before the commercial break. And even more often, once I change channels I get involved in the other program and forget to change back.

(37,648 posts)I can't believe how most posters are missing the mark on this one and jumping to conclusions because of her party.
The right wing loonies HATE her. She's a moderate Repub. That's all. Nothing more nor less. I think she's in favor of gay rights, as well. I think also she is pro choice.
Gather facts before hating someone automatically because of their party affiliation and gender.

(36,827 posts)She basically critisizes everything the Republicans do, then claims to be a Republican. It would be like someone claiming to be a Democrat, but favors Republican ideology. Republicans can't stand her because they think she's a phony. They're right.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)bright stars. It's hard to find a republican, even a "moderate" one, who can compete with the brains of the other women on this show. That was painfully obvious on the show with her on the panel...

Fuck em. They deserve as much animosity as the more colorful douchebags that hold the mouthbreathing refuse because their objectives are the same.
Not being a fucking bigot isn't moderation, it called being a baseline tolerable representitive of humanity.
Good for McCain, she isn't humanity hating pondscum, at least not for being born, just for the quantity of their accounts, disdain for the masses, asserting natural rights, standing up for labor, and being in a country with the boogieman de jour or desired resources.

(34,136 posts)It was enough to make me dislike her, since everything that came out of her mouth was annoying to me. She is ill equipped to defend her political opinions against most of the other people MSNBC has on. The only qualification I can see that she has to get air time is her family name.
If she's a moderate Republican, that party is in more serious trouble than I ever thought. Of course, John McCain was called a "moderate" until he went completely off the rails. It must run in the family.

(37,648 posts)Note the venom of these DU posts against her, wtihout so much as stating one thing she's actually done that pissed them off. She just....exists. And that's enough.
Bigotry is like that, too. Just hate someone because of what they are, rather than basing it on facts and statemens and behavior of that person.

Then again, why give that stupid pissant, Luke Russert, any airtime? He has no credentials either & NOTHING to say of any relevance.

(3,322 posts)She really added nothing of value to Chris' show yesterday and I think the panel was embarrassed for her. She speaks in cliches, and is so out of her league with the brain power Chris has on his panels. I'm sure she's a nice girl, but she doesn't belong in any kind of intellectual discussion. She's a joke on the Daily Beast and if her last name was Jones and she was unattractive, she'd never be popping up on MSNBC.
Her major problem is that she doesn't appear to want to learn - she always seems so proud of herself when in fact she's so lacking when up against real writers and analysts.
