Got my first "gay wedding" invitation today......

A cousin and her SO are tying the knot in about 3 weeks. Great people. Oh and for you folks that like to rag on southerners, my cuz is DEEP Mississippi born and bred. And it's the OTHER side of the family too, not the one you would expect something like this to happen. For an old guy like me, this is a big fucking deal.

but we'll send them something. They are both really great people. They never really made a big deal out of their relationship, but they've been together for years. They just came out a few months ago.

The cynic in me always said that if anybody wanted to go through the hell I went through during my marriages, then more power to them. What don't kill you makes you stronger.

In 29 States, including the entire South, it is legal to discriminate against LGBT people in housing, in employment, in delivery of services and of course there is no marriage equality. No marriage equality here either, but we do protect people from open discrimination.
That's just facts. The facts need to change, people do not need to stop pointing them out because of regional pride issues. Sorry.

So egalitarian. I wonder how the OP might have announced this that would include that this was the first and that it is *cough* ahem, you know....the thing that is commonplace these days it needs no qualification, or mention.

BTW, I would be proud to receive my first wedding invitation. Hmmm I've been to plenty of weddings...

I'm out in the sticks. And it is a rare treat for me to meet new *ahem* friends. Maybe someday a wedding invitation will happen for me too.

Glad you are supportive and excited about it.

And I'm glad they finally felt comfortable enough to come out a few months ago. Although, I was pretty sure about it for years now . As I said above, that side of my family isn't even the most... what? Daring? Open?

And I hope that announcement comes for you too. As far as I'm concerned, anybody that wants to go through the hell on earth that I endured through my two marriages and divorces, more power to 'em.

I went to a gay wedding before it was even legal here in Mass

Female pastor at a Unitarian church back in 1994 or thereabouts

The reception was a blast

But then we were doing interracial weddings long before you folks in the South, too.
