Information rights

Last edited Mon Aug 26, 2013, 09:05 PM - Edit history (1)

Information rights means that you have the right to private transmission across airwaves, microwaves, the internet and via other forms of data and voice transmission. That is a right guaranteed by the FCC if you use transmission waves.

I think some of you guys just freak out because you don't understand technology. These are rights guaranteed to you. You don't need to ask for them, you just need to scream out loud when they are encroached upon.

Somehow, we've been conditioned to believe that it is not a right, but a privelege we should bow and scrape for to exercise 1st Amendment rights. I'll bet you think these ideas of "over the airwaves" are something you should bow and scrape for. you pretty much think nobody else does either, having such privileges.

You are free to rant from your corner of insecurity, but I assure you that there are many that DO understand and how it will impact you. We illustrate how your rights can be destroyed or confiscated, and we stand up for that with regard to information rights.

We don't even need you to thank us. We do it because it is the right thing to do.

You need to understand that your privacy is precious, as are the things you stand for.

This is a conversation that needs to be had, I think, especially on DU.

if I didn't make a post like this. I'd hope she would kick me so far across Texas that she wore out the soles of her boots if I didn't stand up and start talking about things like this.

as a society we wake up and grasp the knowledge that is available to us, and that we quit accepting the palatable chunks of baloney being fed to us by the MSM.

The point is that you USE your rights or you lose them.

I'll fix it. Thank you for helping me not look like a fool.

ETA: Thanks RC. Fixed.

It causes confusion. There are so many acronyms for so much stuff, I usually just spell it out. You'd be surprised at how many 'common' acronyms have more than one meaning, like FSA for instance. For me, FSA means 'Farm Service Agency'.
(Anyway FAA and FCC are common enough to not be confusing to most people.)

Let's send the corporate and religious broadcasters to satellite and cable hell.

With new "smart" digital technologies we could create a free "internet for all" system equivalent to our free interstate highway system and public roads, with an access point on every streetlight and mile marker, and we could open the radio spectrum to ANYONE who wants to create their own local radio or television station.

That is all I can remember at the moment, except some local business leaders did not like the idea of a municipality serving the public when there was money to be made.

they don't need to be sucking up our radio waves, AM and FM without contrary views.
