I listened to a fellow student try to argue that science is a "Western European" creation...

I'm taking a philosophy of science class. The professor asked us to describe the distinguishing characteristics of science.

A student sitting next to me, who was a white male, raised his hand and when called upon exclaimed rather gloriously that science was the genius creation of Western European economics.

I shit you not, we are in a lecture hall with 200 students and this shit-for-brains just completely erased all scientific endeavor outside the realm of Western Europe.

I turned to him and asked if he'd ever heard of the "Islamic Golden Age." He looked confused. The professor, who seems to be pretty gutless, merely stated that there were other societies who participated in science without really driving home the point that the "Western European" science is neither the supreme nor the only current realm of scientific exploration.

This is why we can't have nice things.

And it really wasn't the place to lay waste to him. Maybe next time before class I'll give a piece of my mind.

Your teacher needs to be less "gutless"
This kind of ignorance is very dangerous.
