Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSecretary of State Kerry is talking about hundreds of dead bodies turning cold right now.
Colin Powell was holding up a vial and delivering a fantasy from Dick Cheney.
Big difference.
I'm not looking for war, but a number of DUers are basically comparing this speech/event to Powell's little Cheney act.
That is bullshit.

(12,606 posts)We can't, and shouldn't, enter into another open war. The country is fekking weary of war, a continual crappy economy, the surveillance state, Wall Street crooks walking free, whistle blowers in jail or on the run and an administration that wants to rattle the saber again; and all the while the DoJ considers a blanket amnesty for BushCo.
We just Can't. Fekking. Win.

(45,435 posts)Kerry is far from being a warhawk. I expect the Obama WH to do the right thing (although I am not sure how it will all play out).

(36,418 posts)organizing a war. The right thing for Kerry to have done is to have continued to fight against military action or resigned if he continues to oppose the use of force, not make THAT speech which is a call to arms.

This is not 'Curveball' lying about unprovable neo-con fantasies. This is an active war crime on camera.

But, the fact remains, there is evidence that both sides have used chemical weapons, and that leaves us with a moral dilemma in our possible response that will not be resolved even if there are signals intercepts.

That said, Powell presented false information and Kerry, afaik, has not.
