Marijuana: DEA Bans Armored Cars From Picking up Pot Shop Cash

Marijuana: DEA Bans Armored Cars From Picking up Pot Shop Cash

Medical marijuana is legal in California, but the combination of valuable drugs and what is often a cash-only business can attract some rough characters.

That's why some dispensaries use armored car companies to get their money to and from their favorite bank (or elsewhere). But the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says no more. The federal authority has told armored car companies they can no longer work with some, perhaps all, cannabis retailers in California and Colorado.

The pro-pot forces were up in arms today:

...................................

Retired LAPD deputy chief Stephen Downing of LEAP says in a statement:

Combined with federal restrictions and threats made to banks about doing business with marijuana providers, this ensures that businesses known to carry large amounts of cash will be transporting that cash without professional protection. You couldn't create a situation more ripe for criminal intervention if you tried. It's like the directive was written by petty thugs rather than by one of the most powerful agencies of the US government.

"Look see what legalization has done", except it hasn't happened so they just need to tweak things until it does

Absolutely disgusting.

I see no motivation for dispensaries to collect or pay any taxes as long as they continue to be harassed by the government.

Especially since it is a business with a lot of cash the IRS will move in and claim that taxes are not being paid or there is money laundering.

Where is this sourced from-

One statement in the "blog"

I think we should learn to call bullshit on "blog stories" until there is some kind of confirming evidence that this is based in reality.

6. I've called bullshit each time this bunk story has been posted on Neo-DU.

There is no truth to it at all, it is all made up.

It keeps getting posted because it contains the requisite RW Libertarian anti-Obama rhetoric. Neo-DU loves that shit.

You will likely be attacked for demanding evidence. I was.

You'll notice that if a certain coffee maker doesn't work, there will be 600 posts somewhere with everyone complaining about it. Now say you take it out of the box and works GREAT, maybe 2 people in the World will comment.

People just like to complain, I think what we have here are the merging of two states of mind-

1- Some people just hate the government and believe whacked out conspiracies about how the "man" is trying to break us down
2- People like to complain online because it is in their nature

DU provides those folks an outlet for their "perfect storm"

The cool thing will be when the 2014 election cycle starts ramping up. All of these "helper trolls" that have signed up over the past few months will be so easy to out we will be able to make a game out of it

Yes deputy, it does seem like the DEA directive is written by petty thugs, because you made it seem that way. Problem is, it doesn't exist.
