2 things I expect to see with regards to the potential strikes on Syria

1. The President will not do anything so politically messy as seek an Authorization for the Use of Military Force as was the case in Libya and in contrast to Iraq

2. The GOP will not complain about this and will accept it as the new precedent

after its (whatever happens) is successful in a short period of time, they will start bitching and moaning about how Obama's is in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood or the Taliban or Cobra or some other group

He must notify Congress. It isn't a new precedent, it is within the law written by Congress, signed by a previous President, and used more than once. Jimmy Carter in his use of military force against Iran to rescue hostages (a failed attempt) was acting under the War Powers Act. Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr., and Clinton have used it. It was all legal.
