The Constitution guarantees "no religious test" for office...

So shouldn't the GOP be disqualified? They are clearly having a religious test which seems to be against the rules according to the Constitution. They have already failed the Constitution.

there's nothing saying that the people can't vote based on religion or religious beliefs.

that's not to say that voting that way is wise or ethical or even appropriate in a secular society, but the constitution doesn't prevent it.

It's perfectly fine for any person or group to say "I will not vote for anyone of religion X" or "I will only vote for a person of religion Y".

What the Constitution is saying is that there can be no religious test for taking office.

The notion that people can't apply whatever criteria they want in deciding for whom to vote is silly.
