Just returned from my Maine caucus.

It is Dem caucus day in Maine. Local/County committee breakfast this morning with candidates at all levels. Good turnout there. Town caucus was also good. Had a significant higher number of people at ours than the RePukes did, and they have many more registered voters than we do and a contested prez race. Not a stellar turnout but given we have an incumbent Prez (who got a unanimous endorsement), but decent and good energy. Lots of good organizing, candidate petitions signed, clean elections checks given, other donations, candidate speeches all were good, and good volunteer sign-ups. People have had it with the new TeaRadical Governor Paul "LePUKE" LePage and the Pukes who are now in charge of the legislature. We will run strong state legislature candidates, and the RePukes are already bracing for a loss of the state House and we also have good shot at the state Senate. So, a good day all in all. Not too shabby, as we like to say in Maine.

Pukes spent a lot of money. Same story all around the nation. i.e. Very similar to Wisconsin. Also, in the governor's race progressives and moderates were split between the Dem and an Indy candidate, so Paul LePuke won with 38%.

LePage is called Gov. 38% for a reason.

Former Dem turned Independent garnished 37%

Dem who refused to give up got 20%

The teaparty independents split the remaining few percent.

Personally, I waited until the last minute, but push came to shove, I voted for the Independent. I know of a number of Dems who voted early to try to give the Dem a boost, and then regretted it when it was clear she didn't have a prayer. To me, it was clear 2 weeks earlier when she was stuck at 20%.
