I was 11B1P---Airborne Infantry. Division Readiness Force One. ---meaning I was front line to go.
Didn't happen.
Oh---and that was during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

He reached the top of the National Guard waiting list about the same time he was drafted to Viet Nam and was able to stay away from the war.
I appreciate those who serve so thanks to you.

And my AO was the A Shau Valley. Not fun.

He felt like he missed out on all the "glory" - I thought he was nuts for feeling that way
(past tense as he is deceased )
I am ecstatic that I missed combat.

an entire unit of dropouts from Sigma Chi!
Our weapon of choice was a p-38 with which we knocked off bottles of Tsingtao.
