Yeah, I don't think I'll be picking you for my side. Not early in the draft, anyway.

Angry is good. Disappointed is fine (assuming you were naive enough to be surprised by courses of proposed action like this). But defeat? That is obscene.

and it doesn't mean the feeling is permanent:

"Tonight I'm feeling just absolutely betrayed and defeated."

Sometimes we need to vent when we feel betrayed, and yes (for the moment), defeated.
