OK I get paid (supposed to) get paid at 2pm today. Tomorrow I can cash it. I work tonight till 11 or more.
I want to link one of those Debit cards like Bluebird or something to my Paypal account. But I can't figure out how that is to work. I have heard people say it can be done but I can't find how.
Anyone know anything about this stuff?

(1,353 posts)In fact, I have yet to officially open my Bluebird account.
What I do have is a Paypal debit card that it issued. It is linked right to the account and worked like a prepaid debit card. It is nice because a lot of freelance jobs pay through Paypal now, and the card gives me instant access to the money, whereas transferring it to my checking account takes a couple of days.
I know that will not help you today, but it is something you can ask Paypal about for next time.

(2,442 posts)BUT, to get one you need to have it linked to a checking account. Any checking account.
You can sign up for a free online checking account, just check Google.
The idea is PayPal expects you to be able to transfer funds back and forth through some account.
Which is kind of silly, because you can actually now setup so your employer's direct deposit goes directly into PayPal.
You still need "another" account to activate your PayPal debit card. You can then go and cancel the "2nd" banking account, you only really need PayPal.
I used to have Bank of America, Chase and CitiBank accounts... I closed them all.
I also closed ALL 5 of my credit cards.
PayPal also has a credit card, do not get that... high interest rate. Just get the debit card.
You don't NEED a credit card... the only time you need a credit card is when you need to rent a car or hotel while traveling. You can go to any CVS or other retail drug store, and purchase a "credit card" instantly by putting a cash amount directly on the card. I usually get an AMEX card at CVS. I put $2K on it when I travel. It also allows you to have a pin number on it, so if you lose it, no one can use it. And if lost, can get it replaced with all money left on it.
So you really don't need a credit card ever... just get one when you need it at CVS, pay cash... and you NEVER go into any debt.
I got tired of banks and credit cards charging me "monthly" fees and "online access" fees. After I dropped all the crap I was using for 20years, I saved about $100 a month on "fees"

(14,120 posts)me. But with the way the job is going and all that my family is demanding before I go ( they now know about the ticket and are furious. They are threatening to to get a legal hold on me if I don't pay up) I wanted to see if I can get help with some money to help me wile I was setting up in Tucson.
So the Paypal is at $0.00 right now. So I don't know if they will issue me a card or how fast it will get to me before Oct 5th.

(22,871 posts)have my sympathy, your family sounds nightmarish. I think if you could put a small amount, like 5 or 10 dollars you could open one. Have you thought about keeping some of your cash from your check and putting the rest in your PayPal until you can get away from your family?

(14,120 posts)Most has to go to pay them back.
They will do whatever to punish me for not doing things the way they think is right. So I have a problem in saving much of anything.
