Obama: US concludes Syria carried out chemical weapons attacks
Damascus, Syria (CNN) -- Breaking news alert, 6:22 p.m. ET
U.S. officials have concluded the Syrian government carried out chemical weapons attacks, President Barack Obama said Wednesday.
"We have looked at all the evidence, and we do not believe the opposition possessed nuclear weapons on -- or chemical weapons of that sort. We do not believe that, given the delivery systems, using rockets, that the opposition could have carried out these attacks. We have concluded that the Syrian government in fact carried these out. And if that's so, then there need to be international consequences," he told PBS NewsHour.
Obama also said he has "not made a decision" about whether the United States will conduct a limited military strike or a strike of limited duration in Syria.

(13,685 posts)3. Concluded?
Why is Obama jumping the shark here?
If they have evidence, where is it? The American public is solidly against bombing Syria, and they know it so why this rush without telling us the facts they used to "conclude"?

He says he, er, maybe want to do something, but not sure what, and nothing to more than a slap on the wrist, "if that's the case" that chem weapons were used. Interesting statements in there...

Unless he doesn't care about the impact of rising gas prices on a fragile Enonomy, which is what that bad advice will get him (us).
