In This Bizzarro World We Live In - Things Have Flipped 180 Degrees Again.....

Obama, Biden, Kerry and Hagel - are sounding much like W. Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld

And John Boehner is writing a letter asking questions of Obama demanding a clear plan of action, strategy, the legal justification of such a response and that the White House consult Congress before taking any action against the Syrian government. Boehner wants clearly defined objectives and a broader strategy to achieve stability.

Did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed this a.m.?

Though it is clear Chemical Weapons were used, this is an Imperial act that is about far more than just sending a warning message to the perpetrators of the crime. As I heard on an MSNBC interview while eating my salad, this is a message to Iran, and a message to the resurgent Russia who supports Syria and Iran.

It's like a slightly warmer cold war with slightly different players.

In a convoluted way....
if we give aid to the "rebels", in whatever form,
and Al-Quada is now reported to be part of the rebels..
then does this meet the defintion of treason?

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Doesn't 'treason' in its legal sense require an offical state of war with a country towards which congress has issued a declaration of war?

18 USC § 2381 - Treason

you can find it here, on Cornell Law website:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2381

Note: "levies war against them or adheres to their enemies,"

remember, this country has stated we are in a perpetual War on Terror, has defined what a terrorist is, esp. defined Al-Quada as terrorists.

Then they bring out the treason charge after the crime has been committed.

Then we slide right into 2014 and 2016 elections.

Striking Syria will do nothing good for the country or the party.

They are ALL on board for the PNAC plans to 'rearrange the ME' and install puppet governments who will be less independent.

IF we had begun to work on being less dependent on oil back when Carter was in the WH, we wouldn't need it so much and the Oil Cartels and their greedy supporters would not have the power they now have.

I'm glad we saw it all come full cycle. I used to be puzzled by the Dems who, in just enough numbers, would consistently SAY ONE THING, then go in and vote for ever Bush policy that came to the floor.

Then they would switch so we wouldn't remember their last vote, and next time, a few different Dems would make sure Bush got his funding and his policies passed.

It was frustrating as hell to watch. But not any more, I like to KNOW what is going on and now we do. Now we have to decide what can be done about it.

and in fact exporting more than we ever have. No shortage, just a lot of greed.

This is being driven by the MIC, who has this and other countries by the throat.

You're right about what to do about it, sadly most citizens really don't have a clue on what's going on right under their noses and seemingly don't care.

get their news from the MSM, they get it from far more credible sources from all over the world.

The unpopularity of Congress, the dissatisfaction with the Government is at an all time high.

And look at the tiny fraction of the country that supports this latest war.

I think there is a shift now on all sides of the spectrum regarding these issues.

"They (The Democratic Party) are willing to bravely support any progressive bill as long as there's no chance it can pass"

"The primary tactic in this game is Villain Rotation. They always have a handful of Democratic Senators announce that they will be the ones to deviate this time from the ostensible party position and impede success, but the designated Villain constantly shifts, so the Party itself can claim it supports these measures while an always-changing handful of their members invariably prevent it.

One minute, it’s Jay Rockefeller as the Prime Villain leading the way in protecting Bush surveillance programs and demanding telecom immunity;

the next minute, it’s Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer joining hands and “breaking with their party” to ensure Michael Mukasey’s confirmation as Attorney General;

then it’s Big Bad Joe Lieberman single-handedly blocking Medicare expansion;

then it’s Blanche Lincoln and Jim Webb joining with Lindsey Graham to support the de-funding of civilian trials for Terrorists....

Putting where we are at ( on this issue) into blunt terms that are the simple truth.

I simply can not believe the situation being discussed right now. Insanity is too kind of a word for the world we live in today.

I think they've tried to avoid overt action in Syria as long as possible--and all I've heard them say was "we believe Assad did it, and we should respond because WMD's really suck". If any of them start talking about promoting freedumb-n-democracy and smoking-gun-mushroom-cloud and greeted-as-liberators, then come back and we'll talk.
