A New Low For Tea Bagger Bigots: Public Shaming Of The Disabled

http://samuel-warde.com/2013/08/a-new-low-for-tea-bagger-bigots-public-shaming-of-the-disabled/

We’re seeing the start of something that will probably be the Next Big Thing (TM) for Tea Baggers who love to hate. In the Portland, OR area, this flyer has recently been passed out in several communities. The part that actually names the people on disability has been cut off, but you see what they did:

picture of the actual flyer at link
It reads, in part:

There is an intersection between those people who vote and those who receive public assistance. There are sixteen people in this neighborhood who vote and receive cash disability payments. The names of these people are being posted where they can be seen by taxpayers and the neighborhood can decide who is truly disabled...

Notice how the teabagging cowards did not have the guts to put their own names on it.

The Portland Commission on Disability is collecting information on this incident.

hatred of that note, the fact that it was signed with the title of a goddess, one who was NOT hateful and ugly and disgusting, makes me sick. this person should not be invoking powers beyond her comprehension (at least, I am assuming it is a she, or one woefully ignorant man):

how DARE this hate-filled, ugly-souled cretin use the title artemis of the wildland? this sick,

ugly, hateful person bears no similarity to the goddess artemis in thought, word or deed:

Artemis

The Diana of Versailles, a Roman copy of a Greek sculpture by Leochares
(Louvre Museum)
Goddess of the Hunt, Forests and Hills, the Moon
Symbol Bow, arrows, stags, hunting dog and moon
Parents Zeus and Leto
Siblings Apollo
Roman equivalent Diana

Artemis was one of the most widely venerated of the Ancient Greek deities. Her Roman equivalent is Diana. Some scholars believe that the name, and indeed the goddess herself, was originally pre-Greek. Homer refers to her as Artemis Agrotera, Potnia Theron: "Artemis of the wildland, Mistress of Animals". The Arcadians believed she was the daughter of Demeter.

In the classical period of Greek mythology, Artemis (Ancient Greek: Ἄρτεμις was often described as the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She was the Hellenic goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity and protector of young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women; she often was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows. The deer and the cypress were sacred to her. In later Hellenistic times, she even assumed the ancient role of Eileithyia in aiding childbirth.

and just HOW does this person know who is receiving public assistance? I was not aware that this information is a matter of public record.

If I were one of the disabled people on the list I would do my best to trace these flyers back to their origin and begin filing lawsuits. Somebody somewhere is releasing information that, in my opinion, is confidential. Especially if the nature of the disability is given.

School lunches.
Medical records.
Government files.

Wish someone would put something like that out here with my name on it. I could use some extra income.

Wonder if it would be an ADA violation? Possibly get elder abuse. If they get a wrong name or information it would be libel.

11. Almost certainly medical records or government documents.

By tracing the path back to the origin and then filing a lawsuit the person or persons responsible would have to tell where they received the information. I'm not aware of any law or statute that makes the beneficiaries of disability payments public record. I believe that information is kept strictly confidential. And if the nature of the disability is disclosed that would definitely be a HIPPA violation and would result in a HUGE lawsuit.

At the beginning of every school year, my kids brought home a form to fill out for free or reduced school lunch. I always refused to fill out the form, for two reasons: I knew we made too much money to qualify, and, if you fill out the monthly amount/source of income, once your kid turns it in to the school you have no way of knowing who will see it. Could be the secretary, could be the students who help out in the office, could be the lunch ladies, etc. Any one of them could blab your news because as far as I know they are not covered by HIPPA-type regulations.

The principal used to tell me to complete the form anyway, so they could aggregate the data, and I always refused. If I'm not asking you for help, then my income and how I get it is nobody's goddamn business.

4. The tea party should be called the Hate Party

I am so sad when I read stuff like this. With the tea party people, you see mean hateful things said, lack of tolerance, racism. So sad. And remember, most disabled people were once working taxpayers before they got ill and most would gladly work again if they could find a job that they could get to and could accommodate their disabilities.
