Iran is ever more deeply involved in protecting the Syrian government. Thus a victory for Bashar is a victory for Iran. And Iranian victories cannot be tolerated by the West

(110,159 posts)bush was in for a year or less and was going after iraq.
if the west was after iran, something would have happened by now. and btw, same with syria. syria has been a mess for a long time and obama has done nothing. pretending like this is a long term goal of obama does not pan out

(31,780 posts)Another post reference this article - but I couldn't find the words to communicated my thoughts on it. You did it quite succinctly. It seems to me that indeed - we would have done something by now if we meant to.
And it's good to see you.

(16,834 posts)the Middle East since Dubya was in office have been a process of preparation for an eventual conflict with Iran. They show a map of countries in the region with American bases, and they nearly surround Iran. It would make sense that before we engaged in conflict with Iran, who would be a strong adversary, we would make an effort to contain them. The Iraq war would make more sense if seen in that light, instead of seeing it as a simple money-making oil-grabbing scheme. It has PNAC written all over it.
