WTF???? House unlikely to come back into session before Sept. 9,

The House is very unlikely to come back into session before Sept. 9, despite what seems like the increasing likelihood of a U.S. attack on Syria, according to multiple senior level aides.

President Barack Obama’s administration has made the case that they would not need congressional approval for the kind of strike on Syria being considered by the administration. Some Republicans — Reps. Chris Gibson of New York and Thomas Massie of Kentucky, for example — told POLITICO that they think Obama should seek a congressional vote to authorize any use of force.

Concerning war. That was when President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Congress agreed and issued a declaration of war. Presidents and Congress have ignored the Constitution since then.

What a novel idea. Especially for this do-nothing Congress. They want no responsibility at all. They don't even want to know the real reasons for what's going on.

IIRC, Obama is scheduled to leave on Tuesday, with a stop in Sweden before going on to St. Petersburg.

So unless the attack is over Labor Day weekend, its doubtful that it would be done until Obama gets back. Which is almost the 9th.

That would be after 6 pm EDT Sunday in the US.

The attack would be in the very early morning hours. The new moon is on the 5th, but the early hours of the 2nd should be OK.

I couldn't be on Saturday morning, because that would be too soon after the inspectors leave.

Waiting until the next night would be bad, because you'd want to do it while most of the world's financial markets are closed, although Asia would be open. Having the US markets closed Monday would be a good thing, since all the gyrations would happen elsewhere and the outcome should be clear before US markets open on Tuesday.

It's best if the adults handle this situation. Too many of the cowards in Congress would rather wait to see the results before taking a stand so they don't risk anything personally and they can later spin it to their political advantage.
