Jurors took roughly two hours to find DeMarquise Elkins guity of fatally shooting a 13-month-old baby in between the eyes during a botched robbery attempt earlier this year. His mother, Karimah Elkins, was found guilty of tampering with evidence but was acquitted on the charge of lying to police.
Elkins, 17 at the time of the shooting, was found guilty on all counts, including malice murder and felony murder. He showed no emotion as the verdict was read

(30,947 posts)But in this case because the defendant was only 17 at the time he commited the crime, he is lucky that he will not face the death penalty. But when he goes to prison, he will probably wish for death, as even hardened criminals do not condone child cruelty much less killing a baby. So his prison sentence will be hell as it should be for a scum like that.

I don't know how this kid got so heartless and violent at such a young age but I'm sure life in prison would only make him worse. What do you do with a kid that damaged?

(1,560 posts)Pretty easy answer to that. Keep him the hell away from the rest of society. He was 17 when he committed these barbaric crimes. There's no excuse for this savagery, i don't care how much of a "bad upbringing" he had.
