A rather ominous dust storm outside my house from a few days ago...

My phone alert system was ringing off the hook. Decided to go outside and check to see if I should pull my motorcycle underneath the carport. Had just enough time to move it and then snap a few photos for a panorama.




This monsoon has been particularly dry. There have been a lot of dust storms and not much rain.

If so that was a spectacular dust storm. Watched it come in by Piestewa Peak - real eerie. We didn't get much dust at our place - the wall seemed to pass mostly to the east, but then it dumped rain for a good 3 hours and the electrical storm was real close. My dogs were terrified.

2. Yeah, the lightning was exceptionally intense. Rained buckets for about 30 minutes...

Then fell down to a drizzle. The dust was deceptively thin and only lasted a few minutes. But the lighting was just right to make it look pretty bad.

3. Some laugh about our weather here in the UK

but at least we don't get shit like that.

6. Years ago I saw a semi blown over on a car near Chandler.

7. That was a big one. I was driving on Camelback and just turned into a parking structure...

to wait it out.

It seems that we are having more and more of theses, and the intensity is increasing.
