(26,600 posts)The Civil War was hell rained down on America by the greedy 1% of southerners who owned slaves and the stupid white crackers who followed them. Not much has changed in the south except it's no longer legal to own people.

(11,175 posts)The initial version of what's in the upper left, adopted on March 4, 1861, had seven stars. It was changed to nine, then eleven, then the thirteen-star version shown here. That last change, effective November 28, 1861, reflected the Confederacy's position that rump pro-Southern groups in Kentucky and Missouri were the legal governments of those states and had seceded.
At least, that's what I read in the Wikipedia article about the CSA flag.
A little-known fact from that article is that there was a third national flag, adopted in March 1865. It was (perforce) in use only a short time and only a few of them were produced. It was like the one shown in the OP in the upper right but with a vertical red bar along the right-hand side.

(2,679 posts)from me that displays the first flag shown along side the Israel flag. Of course during the election this same person had tons of romney signs.
I never knew what the other flag was until I read this post. thanks! Now I just find the person living there even more strange...
