There may be some adrenaline junkie in him to make him cover what he does but I don't see him as one or the bad guys. Usually he's got the most balanced reporting coming out of the areas in question.

But I'm not surprised that some spin his reporting in this way.

He's right up there with Christiane Amanpour in terms of really understanding the issues and complexities involved in what he's covering.

YMMV, however.

What he is saying is not all that surprising really. The President had previously indicated that he was ready to go with an attack with or without help...now that President is saying that any action will have to wait on a vote of Congress.

Of course, those who heard the previous message are going to be disappointed.

Unlike many in this thread, I've always liked the guy a lot and usually would give him the benefit of the doubt.

All I can imagine is that you are right and the Syrian rebels have convinced him. Sorry I can't help with a link but I'm sure he'll be on some of the Sunday talk shows and we'll get a chance to hear it again.

It just seemed totally out of character.

He makes the same points in the link I posted, just with less vehemence.

I personally think the President made the best of a horrific situation-Engel most definitely disagreed and clearly favored a much stronger reaction. But my whole week has been an emotional rollercoaster so I'm probably not the best judge of things right now.

Regardless, its nice to have a disagreement with someone on DU who doesn't resort to name-calling or personal animosity.

having not watched him reporting since Iraq War... He seemed to be urging a strike. When he knows very well that the consequences of a strike would kill even more innocents since the wealthy have already escaped the city...it's only the poor who are left to deal with the bombing and aftermath.

Since Amash's initial tweet, he's been retweeting comments that have been sent in from military members and veterans. Many of my own military sources have expressed reservations with action in Syria, especially following service in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
