On the one hand, they will want to automatically vote against anything he's for. This will make them look "soft" on defense, etc.

But if they want to make him (and Democrats) the party that ignores the will of the people, they will have to vote "for" the bombing. Which will end up making them look bad.

Which devil will they choose?

12. When you look at the 2014 election cycle

and realize the make up of the House it becomes more than a little problematic for any number of Democratic Representatives who will be engaged in difficult races. Note the following:

Party Divisions of the House of Representatives

•233 Republicans
•200 Democrats
•0 Independents
•2 Vacancies

There is only a thirty three vote difference. If the Republicans vote in lock step they control the board but that is a big if. And will it be a straight up and down vote? There is plenty of room for intrigue here all aimed at making President Obama look weak. Does the Democratic Representative go back to his or here district saying they voted against giving President Obama authority to bomb or do they go back to their district saying they supported President Obama? And while all of this Kabuki is on going people in Syria are dying. This is a classic lose/lose situation where buying a little time or wiggle room will not pay off for the President in the 2014 elections. I honestly believe this could be played in such a way as to cost us any chance at retaking the House.
